Since 4:3 format monitors are so rare these days (and 20" or smaller if you can even find them) I was deciding between a 30" computer monitor, or a 32" LCD TV. They are both roughly the same height. In the end, I settled on a 27" HannsG monitor for its 3ms response time. Either way, the arcade games, especially the 3:4 games left alot of blank screen. So I decided to make artwork to fill in the dead space, and on some games, show what controls do what (particularly the fighters.) Most of the artwork was obtained from Mr Do's site (http://mrdo.mameworld.info/mame_artwork.html) and modified by me to fit the widescreen format. His artwork is top-notch. Some of the others I created myself using graphics found at Local Arcade (http://www.localarcade.com/arcade_art/) and other places on the web.
Feel free to use them if you like them. The .lay files include the views for artwork from Mr Do. But you will have to download all the artwork itself from his website if you wish to use it. Otherwise, if you choose those views in mame, you will get a funny looking screen.
The zip files below for the bezel artwork are the .png files only.

Special Artwork
This includes Afterburner and Spy Hunter, which have panel lights; Space Invaders, Asteroids Deluxe and Discs of Tron, which have backdrops in addition to the bezels; and Pole Position which shows the shifter position. Some of these features only work in the more recent versions of mame. Both 16:10 and 16:9, as well as the .lay files are in the one .zip file.
