How to create modified ntdetect.com |
After I first created the USB multiboot stick, and first went to install Windows XP from the USB stick; on some of my Dell computers it works fine. On others of my Dell computers, I was getting a blue screen stop error right after text mode setup launched. A little searching yielded this easy fix. Download and install Tiny Hexer (a freware hex text editor) http://www.softpedia.com/get/Others/Miscellaneous/tiny-hexer.shtml |

Go to this thread on msfn.org http://www.msfn.org/board/in.....w=findpost&p=738009 Highlight all the text in the code window as shown below.
Open Tiny Hexer, and paste the text.
| |
Specify the options shown below
Now save as ntdetect.com
To be sure you did it correctly, make sure the file size matches. Then copy it to the root of your usb drive. All should be good now.
